The suspension of Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been sustained by a Rivers State State High Court presided over by Justice Okugbelem J Gbasam.
In a motion filed by one Ibeawuchi Ernest Alex and four others, Justice Gbasam based his decision on Secondus suspension from the PDP in his Ward 5, Andoni local government area of the State.
Justice Gbasam also granted the aggrieved PDP members’ request to restrain and suspend Secondus from attending or conveying PDP meetings in his role as National Chairman or as a party member.
Geoffrey Uwalaka, Counsel of Uche Secondus, voiced discontent with the result to journalists outside the courtroom, stating that his client will appeal the decision.

”I’m not surprised by the verdict; I didn’t expect anything less given the way and manner in which the hearing began. We attempted to bring to the court’s attention that the provisions of the law were not followed in the issuance of the originating summons, and that as a result, the court lacked authority to proceed with the case, but the Court ignored our allegations.
”The judgement stated that our client had been suspended; but, as I previously stated, this is not the whole truth; we will meet on appeal.
”As I speak with you, we have completed our appeal, and we are proceeding with our appeal.”
According to Uwosuegbe Eze, counsel for the plaintiffs, the judgment upholds Uche Secondus’ suspension, and any actions from today forth are null and invalid because he is unable to fulfill any tasks.

Hon. Justice Gbasam has confirmed Uche Secondus’ suspension from the party, and he will remain suspended.
“The PDP members who filed the case to court are PDP members. They were dissatisfied with the Chairman’s administration of the party as well as his anti-party activities.”
However, Eugene Odey, attorney for the PDP, claims that the party was not given a fair hearing.
