President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALD) to establish integrated farm estates in each of the country’s 109 senatorial districts.

After meeting with Buhari at the State House in Abuja over the weekend, NALD Executive Secretary Paul Ikonne told reporters about it.
He urged state governors to take advantage of Buhari’s desire to make land available for the establishment of farm estates, which, he claims, will help to combat youth unemployment and achieve food security.

The commissioning of the Daura Integrated Farm Estate in Katsina State, he said, was a wake-up call to Nigerians about Buhari’s commitment to food security.

He claimed that the Integrated Farm Estate in Borno was 75 percent complete, and that fish villages were being built in 40 locations to engage women.

The Kogi State Government had donated 700 hectares of land to NALDA for the integrated land estate, while the Ogun State Government had donated 100 hectares, according to Ikonne.

He stated that the NALDA was establishing a fish village in Abia State to engage women in fish production and packaging.
