Buhari administration plans to recruit 10,000 Nigerians to join the Nigerian Police Force

According to Muhammad Dingyadi, Minister of Police Affairs, President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration will recruit 10,000 Nigerians into the Nigeria Police Force.

“For the sake of clarity, the federal government-approved recruitment of 40,000 police constables is being carried out in batches of 10,000,” Mr Dingyadi explained.

The police affairs minister went on to say that the first batch of the process was “successfully completed” in 2019 and that plans for the second batch were well underway.

Mr Dingyadi also revealed that the recruitment process was being carried out by the appropriate agencies.

He, on the other hand, warned Nigerians to disregard a report circulating on social media that Mr Buhari’s regime would hire 400,000 police officers as fake news.

The minister’s spokesman, Osaigbovo Ehisienmen, stated this in an Abuja statement on Thursday.

Mr Dingyadi explained that the report was a smear campaign aimed at misrepresenting Mr Buhari’s administration’s approval of 40,000 new police constables.

According to him, the report claimed that the police affairs ministry was conducting the recruitment process independently of the Police Service Commission and the police force.

The minister claimed that the report was written to set up platforms to defraud unsuspecting job seekers.

The purported 13-man ministerial project coordination committee set up by the ministry to conduct the recruitment process is a figment of the author’s imagination, according to the police affairs minister. “In the ministry, such a committee does not exist.”

Mr Dingyadi warned the public about the dangers of phony police recruitment.
