According to Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Lead Counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, the Department of State Services prevented Kanu from seeing his lawyers on Thursday.
In a statement released on Friday, Ejiofor claimed that the secret police prevented him and other lawyers, including IPOB’s US attorney, Bruce Fein, from meeting with Kanu.
He described the refusal as a violation of a Federal High Court order in Abuja directing the DSS to allow Kanu’s lawyers to visit him twice a week.
