Two suspected members of a kidnap syndicate were shot dead by police in Ogun State on Sunday after a gun battle with officers from Itori, a local government area in Ewekoro.
Several armed hoodlums with hoods on their faces were reported to be hiding in a bush at the back of DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori in Ewekoro divisional headquarters at 7:30 am on Sunday, reports say.
On Monday, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun Police Division, stated that the Ewekoro Division’s anti-robbery squad was dispatched to locate the mentioned hoodlums.
When the gang spotted the police, they opened fire, causing a gunfight that lasted 40 minutes or so.
After revealing the syndicate members had been gunned down, Oyeyemi concluded by saying, “some syndicate members fled with varying levels of gunshot injuries.”
The miscellaneous finds recovered from their hideouts by Oyeyemi included: a single shotgun, two live cartridges, two battle axes, empty AK-47 rifle shells, three android phones, two small phones, eight pairs of slippers, and two school bags.

While all this was happening, Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Edward Ajogun, went on to caution criminals, saying it was a losing proposition for them to test the will of the command.
In addition, Ajogun led a large-scale manhunt for the gang members who had escaped.
