President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a steering committee to oversee the implementation of the recently signed Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, is the chairman of the steering committee.

The steering committee’s primary responsibility will be to guide the effective and timely implementation of the PIA during the reform program’s transition to the petroleum industry, and to ensure that the new institutions created are fully capable of carrying out their mandate under the new legislation.

The committee will have 12 months to complete the task, and the President will be updated on a regular basis.
