ABUJA, Nigeria – The Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) believes the opposition PDP has conceded electoral defeat to the ruling party two years before the general election in 2023.
This is based on an avalanche of “idle conspiracies and wild allegations being bandied by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the procuration of e-voting machines and plans to rig the 2023 elections,” according to the statement.
Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, Secretary, APC CECPC, said in an Abuja statement that there is no need to rig the election because the electorate has already made their choice.
He claimed that the PDP was agitated by the APC’s widespread popularity and had resorted to distractions and diversionary activities, including a lawsuit against the CECPC chairman.

The PDP recently accused the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of conspiring to rig the election in 2023.
“In its desperate bid to stay in the public eye, the PDP has recently resorted to many diversionary activities, including the recent misguided court case instituted against the APC’s national caretaker leadership, which has been widely dismissed as an abuse of court process,” Akpanudoedehe said.
“The PDP has now released an irrational and baseless statement on alleged plans to rig the general elections in 2023.
“The PDP is clearly unsettled and fearful of the APC’s broad appeal. As a result, the PDP’s fictitious, baseless, and concocted allegations of a plot to rig the 2023 elections have gained traction. The APC will not emulate the PDP’s election fraud practices. There is no need for the APC to rig any election because Nigerians have already made their electoral choice, with our most recent victory being the bye-election for the House of Representatives seat for the Lere Federal Constituency in Kaduna State.”
