According to NAN, the NNPC announced this in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Dr Kennie Obateru, on Monday in Abuja.

The appointments and redeployments, according to the company, were made to strengthen and reposition the NNPC in order to achieve global excellence and profitability.

According to the statement, Mr Garba Muhammad has been named to succeed Obateru as Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division.

Obateru would also be leaving the service in September of this year, according to the statement.

Ahmadu-Katagum and Okoye were the Group General Managers of the NNPC’s Supply Chain Management Division and Crude Oil Marketing Division (COMD), respectively, until their new appointments.

Mr. Adeyemi Adetunji, who was previously the Group Executive Director, Business & Ventures Development, has been promoted to Group Executive Director, Downstream.

Mr. Mohammed Abdulkabir Ahmed, who was previously the Chief Operating Officer for Corporate Services, has been promoted to Group Executive Director for Gas and Power.

Obateru also revealed that other NNPC Chief Operating Officer positions have been renamed Group Executive Directors (GEDs) to comply with the Company and Allied Matters Act’s rules (CAMA).

According to him, this was done in preparation for the corporation’s new status as a limited liability company following the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).

Mr Yusuf Usman, former Chief Operating Officer, Gas And Power, was disengaged as a result of the repositioning, according to the statement.

The NNPC’s Group Managing Director, Malam Mele Kyari, was quoted as saying that the new appointments would help the company live up to Nigerians’ expectations and achieve its vision of becoming a world-class energy company of choice.
