The death of retired Brigadier-General Dominic Oneya, according to Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, is a loss to Nigeria and the people of Benue State.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, the governor expressed his condolences to the retired army official, former NFF president, and Benue State administrator.
Oneya’s imprint as governor of Benue State, according to Ortom, has remained indelible, especially as someone who handed over power to a democratically elected governor in 1999.

He expressed his condolences to the Oneya family, the Delta State government, and the people on the death of their illustrious son, and prayed to God to grant his soul eternal rest.
The Delta-born retired Army general was found dead in his home at Effurun GRA in Delta State’s Uvwie Local Government Area on Thursday morning. The reason for the 73-year-death old’s has not been revealed.
