Mr. Kim Young-Chae, the South Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, has said that continuing to depend on food imports for survival is a hazardous trend for Nigeria.
Nigeria can be self-sufficient and capable of feeding the whole African continent, according to the ambassador, since it has the capacity and the ability to do so.
Young-Chae made the claim on Friday at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall in Yenagoa at an exhibition titled “Made in Bayelsa Agricultural Products: A Pre-Bayelsa Agric Summit 2021.”
He pledged that Korean businesses will invest in Bayelsa State’s agricultural industry and other areas of interest to help the state’s economy grow.
Governor Douye Diri was assured of Young-assistance Chae’s in realizing his vision and economic plan for the state.

The ambassador praised Diri’s commitment to ensuring the state’s economic success via agricultural and infrastructural development.
He encouraged Bayelsa’s administration to research Korean and other East Asian markets in order to export commodities including cassava, rice, and seedlings.
“I will do all in my power to encourage Korean businesses to invest not just in agriculture but also in shipbuilding and manufacturing,” he said. It’s a pledge that we’ll work with Governor Diri to assist the state’s economy develop.
“During my discussions with the governor, I sensed his zeal, passion, and commitment to the state’s economic growth. So I thought we might assist him in realizing his vision for Bayelsa.
“One method to accomplish this is to research the Korean and other East Asian markets in Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, and China to discover what kinds of rice, cassava, and seedlings like sesame seeds you can prepare for export and profit handsomely.”

The governor of Bayelsa emphasized the state’s willingness to form partnerships in order to attract foreign direct investment into the state when he declared the exhibition open.
He told the Korean Ambassador that his visit to Bayelsa will enhance the state’s ties with Korea.
He said that the tour had also provided him with firsthand information and understanding of the state’s people’s calm and welcoming character.

The governor said that his government values the ambassador’s commitment to the state’s development and expressed confidence that all of the promises he made would be fulfilled.
“Bayelsa is ripe and ready to welcome foreign direct investments,” Diri said. Bayelsa and South Korea would benefit from this cooperation.
“You’ve come to get personal information and understanding of what life is like in Bayelsa, away from stereotypes and militancy and crime problems. Of course, there is no such thing as a completely safe state or nation. We would cooperate with you to address the security issues since Nigeria is in the heart of the Gulf of Guinea.”
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Chief David Alagoa, said in his welcoming speech that the Diri-led government has prioritized agriculture as one of the key areas in reviving the state’s economy.
Alagoa, who encouraged Korea to join the state’s agricultural revolution, said a number of events had been planned ahead of the state’s agricultural summit in October, with the goal of establishing a state-wide agricultural strategy.
