Unknown gunmen attacked Gidan Sule village in Nasarawa State on Wednesday, killing five people.
Rahman Nansel, the state police spokesman, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Thursday, saying the gunmen fired sporadically throughout the community.
“Four corpses were discovered on the scene, while three injured victims were rescued and transported to Odumu Hospital for treatment.
“Unfortunately, one person died later at the same hospital,” he said.

He noted that the police have already increased their manpower, led by Area Commander Awe, ACP Dankwano D. Wilson, to apprehend the perpetrators.
“The Commissioner of Police expresses his condolences to the families of the deceased and assures them that the Police Command will do everything possible to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the act,” he added.
