Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odunmosu has warned a Non-Government Organisation, under the aegis of Yoruba Appraisal Forum, to steer clear of the state as no protest will be allowed.
The Command said it has come to its notice that the organisation has concluded plans to embark on another rally slated for Friday 16th July 2021, at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, Ojota, Lagos, by 9 am.
A statement signed by the Command Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated that the Command has painstakingly carried out threat analysis and gathered intelligence on the proposed rally which has been considered ill-timed due to a number of security and health-related dangers it portends on Lagos State.

The command also noted that the Lagos State Government has just announced the emergence of the Delta Variance of COVID-19 pandemic in the State and increased number of COVID-19 cases recorded has forced the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to shut down while others live in the fear of the new deadly variance.
The command said this singular health-related reason is enough to halt the rally as it will definitely trigger and spread the pandemic in the state.
“In addition, a gathering of such kind at a strategic location of Ojota in Lagos State will definitely compound the traffic situation in the state due to the ongoing road rehabilitation in the area, as well as the upsurge in the movement of people in and out Lagos because of the forthcoming Eid-Kabir.
