The Coalition of Northern Groups has urged the Federal Government to enable the entire course of justice to be followed in the case of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.
Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the group’s spokesman, issued a statement on Tuesday outlining the group’s position.
“We heard word of the fugitive’s arrest and repatriation with mixed sentiments of concern and appreciation,” the statement stated.

“We applaud the Federal Government’s and agencies’ efforts in making this happen, notably the International Police and UK authorities for upholding their duties to Nigeria.
“On the other hand, until the full course of justice is carried out, we remain concerned. Kanu is currently on trial for treasonous crime and bail jumping, as we all know.
“In addition, as a result of his open incitement, he now faces further allegations of encouragement to violence and killings of persons of various ethnicities, particularly northerners, security personnel.”
While Kanu is on trial, the CNG believes the government should resolve the Biafra issue once and for all.
“No one should make the mistake of thinking that the arrest means the Biafran crisis is over.
He continued, “We stand firm in our belief that a referendum must be held to settle this and any other agitations for self-determination from any section of the country.”
