A court in Cross River has sentenced a man to 12 years in prison for defiling five and seven-year-old girls.

A 29-year-old rapist was sentenced to 12 years in prison by a High Court in Cross River State.

Mr Godswill Idongesit Brownson, the suspect, was sentenced to prison by a court presided over by Justice Akon Ikpeme, the Chief Judge of Cross River State, for defiling two children aged 5 and 7 in the state.

The case was aided by Barr James Iboor, a human rights activist who opposed the convict’s actions.
“On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, Justice Akon Ikpeme, Honourable Chief Judge of Cross River State, condemned Brownson,” he said.

Brownson was sentenced to 12 years in a Nigerian Correctional Service Custodial Correctional Facility, he said.

“In November 2017, he was arrested and arraigned. The lawyer stated, “He has now been condemned to 12 years in prison.”
