According to an eyewitness, the bandits shot the soldiers oblivious and opened fire, killing five in a place.

At least five soldiers have been said to have been shot dead along Wetheral Road Owerri at Imo State as unidentified gunmen attacked the region.

The incident happened in the late afternoon of Friday.

That really is coming few days ahead of the May 30th seat-at-home order given by the chief of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in commemoration of the Biafra Day.

“Right now, five soldiers have been shot dead. Everybody is on the run. Wetheral Road, Nazi/Aba street, Government House Roundabout and all the link roads have been shut down.

“I personally saw the soldiers evacuating the corpses at a Hilux automobile, there were five.

“The bandits have already taken off and shot sporadically from the atmosphere to scare people away.”

The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana’s amount wasn’t reachable as at the time of submitting this report.
