President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged by the Senate to rescind the sack of of Nasiru Argungu as the substantive Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment.
A point of order raised on the floor of the upper chamber by Ibrahim Hadejia, the Senator representing. Jigawa East Senatorial District prompted the resolution.
The Senate also asked Buhari to investigate the frosty relationship between Argungu and the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Kayamo (SAN).
The upper chamber believes the sack of Argungu will stall the Federal Government programme aimed at providing jobs for 774, 000 jobs.
The presidency had last week announced the sacking of Argungu as DG, NDE.
Argungu was relieved of his post in a memo issued last week Friday, December 4, 2020, taking effect from Monday, December 7.
But on Wednesday night Abubakar Fikpo was announced as the acting Director-General of the NDE.
