The World Health Organization (WHO) has shown that worldwide, eight million people die annually from smoking. ‘ The new WHO Cease Challenge on WhatsApp and book’Greater than 100 reasons to stop tobacco’ are being published now to mark the beginning of the effort. “The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in millions of users stating they wish to stop. The effort will encourage at least 100 million individuals since they attempt to provide up tobacco throughout communities of quitters.

“`Commit to Stop’ will help produce healthier environments which are conducive to stopping tobacco by advocating for strong tobacco cessation policies; raising access to cessation services; increasing awareness of tobacco industry strategies, and enabling tobacco consumers to produce successful stop efforts through”stop & win” initiatives.

“WHO, jointly with partners, will build and build digital communities in which people may come across the social support they have to stop. The focus would be on high fat countries where the vast majority of the planet’s tobacco users reside.

The statement added:”quitting tobacco is hard, particularly with the additional social and financial pressures which come because of the pandemic. Worldwide approximately 780 million individuals say they wish to stop, but just 30 percent of these have access to the resources which may help them accomplish that. Along with partners, WHO provides individuals with the resources and tools that they will need to earn a successful quit attempt.

“WHO published a scientific short before this year showing that smokers are at greater risk of developing serious illness and death in COVID-19. Additionally, people living with such ailments are more vulnerable to acute COVID-19.

“Both regional and global cessation tools will probably be rolled out within this effort.

WHO therefore called on all governments to make sure their citizens have access to short advice, toll-free stop lines, cellular and electronic cessation services, nicotine replacement therapies and other resources which are shown to help people stop. It stressed that powerful communicating companies improve health, save lives and save cash.
