Benue State Deputy Governor, Engr Benson Abounu has assured the Nigeria Air Force of the state government continuous support and partnership in its operation in the state.
Engr. Abounu gave the promise today at the Benue People’s House, Makurdi when the Commandant, Nigeria Air force War College, Makurdi, Air Vice Marshall Dalhat Ladan and top officers of the college paid him a ”thank you” visit for his consistent support and show of love to the Airforce.
He praised the Airforce for its numerous contributions to the development of the state, particularly in the area of security, education and health care services.
He disclosed that the relative peace being enjoyed in the state is a result of the good work done by the Nigeria Airforce, and the Army, with the Airforce providing aerial support in the fight against insurgency in the state.
Engr Abounu said the state is indebted to the Nigeria Airforce for its services to the Benue people through its medical facility, the Airforce Hospital, as well as its school, Airforce Secondary School, Makurdi. He explained that when the unfortunate Ahumbe petrol tanker fire explosion occurred last year, the hospital came to the rescue of the state by treating for free some of the victims with the most severe burns.
He assured the Commandant that the Samuel Ortom administration would continue to give every support it can to enable the Airforce succesfully discharge its constitutional mandate to the people of the state.
Earlier, AVM Ladan had commended the deputy governor for his love and consistent support to the Airforce seen in his regular attendance at its functions. He thanked the Ortom administration for its support for the fight against insurgency and criminally in the state.
