Chadian President, Idriss Déby has declared that his Army has cleared all the fringes of the Lake Chad Basin island of Boko Haram terrorists.
President Déby made the declaration in Ndjamena Saturday while speaking to journalists on the clearance operations by Chadian forces.
”I can assure all of the Chadians today that the whole of the island zone which borders Cameroon, Nigeria and Niger, there is not a single Boko Haram today in Chad” said Idriss Déby.
He clarified that the two essential command posts of Boko Haram, in Lake Chad have been taken over by Chadian forces. “They seriously destroyed Boko Haram,” said the head of state.
According to him, “the little that remains, either returned to Niger, either to Nigeria, or to Cameroon. Our forces are behind them. They returned to Niger, they returned to Nigeria too.”
“The cleanup continues. It’s over for our country, so there are no more terrorists now. Now we’re inside the neighboring countries. We support them to end Boko Haram “said Déby, adding that the blood of the Chadian soldiers who fell in Bohoma was avenged.
