Mohammed Abubakar, son of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has said that being Abuja’s first case of the coronavirus was traumatic.

He spoke in a five-minute video posted on Twitter on Thursday by his father.

Abubakar is receiving treatment at the Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja.

He said: “I’m currently on my 12th day here and I hope to be back soon. Perhaps when my next test is taken and the results are favourable, I will be on my way out hopefully.

“When I came here, my first few days, I was asymptomatic but I was nervous and had a level of anxiety and a little bit of trauma.

“It was fairly a difficult few days especially being the first case here in Abuja. I think that was really the main challenge.

“But day by day, I grew stronger in mind and thanks largely to all the goodwill, prayers and support I got from a vast array of Nigerians.”

He warned against the spread of false news at this time, saying it would increase fatalities.

Abubakar advised Nigerians to come together and collectively fight the virus.
