Kemi Adeosun, a former finance minister, has lost her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, who died on Tuesday in Lagos aged 62.
In a statement on Thursday the Adeosun family said he died on August 5 after a life dedicated to God, his family and service to others.
The statement, signed by Reverend C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family, said the announcement was made “with profound sorrow, but in total submission to the will of Almighty God.”
The family said the deceased was a distinguished businessman and a committed Christian whose life was marked by integrity, generosity and steadfast faith.
Adeosun earned the admiration of those who knew him with his devotion to God, hard work and commitment to his family and community, the statement said.
“Niyi was a distinguished businessman and a dedicated Christian whose integrity, kindness and unwavering faith affected the lives of all who knew him,” the family said.

“He dedicated his life to hard work, service to God, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.”
He is survived by his wife Kemi, their children and his siblings.
His family includes Kuramo Capital founder Adewale Adeosun, and other relatives, friends and associates.
The family said they drew comfort from their Christian faith and belief in eternal rest.
It quoted Revelation 14:13, which states, “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
The family asked the public to respect their privacy during this time of mourning.
Details of the funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced later, it said.
The family also thanked friends, associates and well-wishers who sent prayers, condolences and messages of support.
“We thank everyone for their prayers, condolences and support. “May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Lord,” the statement added.
Kemi Adeosun served as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance from 2015-2018 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who is now late.
