APC Forum Charges Tinubu With Delivering Transparent National Convention

President Bola Tinubu has been encouraged by the North-Central APC Forum to make sure that the party elects genuine national offices ahead of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, national convention.

It is planned that the APC national conference will take place from March 27 to 28, 2026. At the convention, national officers of the party will be chosen to form the National Working Committee (NWC).

The North-Central APC Forum, however, stated in a statement signed by its chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, on Thursday that it is essential that the party start discussions to choose eminent individuals with experience and track records to occupy all NWC posts, including national chairman.

In order to guarantee that only those with the necessary qualifications are chosen at the convention to lead the APC’s operations, the Forum urged Tinubu to lead a “vetting process.”

“A proper APC national chairman should be somebody whose age accords him the status of a statesman, not an inexperienced fellow who has not acquired the experience to manage the affairs of a political party with so many prominent, distinguished personalities,” the Forum states.

Having competent leadership to manage the party’s business is now a must due to the APC’s explosive development after a number of opposition governors switched to the party with their structures.

President Bola Tinubu is being urged by the North-Central All Progressives Congress, APC, Forum to make sure that the party elects a trustworthy national leadership at the upcoming national convention.

Since the APC has many well-known politicians who have served and are currently serving at the highest levels of government, we think this goal is crucial. We think it should be unavoidable to elect the greatest candidates from such a prestigious pool of political leaders.

“We implore Mr. President to lead the screening procedure that will guarantee that the appropriate individuals are elected as our party’s national officers since there should be no justification for not doing it correctly at the national convention.

“A credible APC leadership should be made up of notable individuals who possess the necessary attributes, such as age, prior leadership experience, track record, national acceptability, extensive and efficient network, and resources.”

“We implore Mr. President to make sure that legitimate candidates are chosen to fill every post in the National Working Committee, or NWC. According to the statement, “We don’t want people who will commercialize the party by looking out for their personal interests.”

The party’s national leader should not be chosen primarily based on academic credentials, the APC Forum emphasized. According to the North-Central APC Forum, political discernment and ability are more crucial attributes.

The Forum insisted on competence, stating that anyone who had previously failed to deliver their local governments, wards, and polling places for the party should not be taken into consideration.

According to the APC Forum, religious sentiment should also be abandoned.

“Leading APC is not about having a long academic background or using proper grammar. We are urging Mr. President to ensure that only those with a track record of success, who are of the appropriate age and experience, are chosen to serve as APC national officers. It all comes down to the ability to deliver.

Additionally, we recommend that the national chairman of the APC be elected at the national convention without regard to religious beliefs. Given that Nigeria is a secular society, it is crucial that the national chairman of the APC not be someone who is known to have strong religious beliefs or who believes he is speaking for Christians, Muslims, or followers of traditional religions.

“Mr. President, please make sure that the national chairman does not prioritize religion. The statement said, “The national chairman should be someone who is not sectional, who identifies with people of all faiths and ethnicities, and who will put Nigeria’s interests above all.”
