Two people were seriously hurt and at least six people were confirmed dead in a traffic accident that happened at
NASFAT intersection, Lagos-Ibadan motorway.
The collision, which included a Volvo truck and a Mazda commercial bus, happened on Thursday at around 2:36 p.m.
According to reports, the 18-seater bus was driving from Lagos when it collided with an Ibadan truck that was doing a U-turn close to the NASFAT area.
Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, the Federal Road Safety Corps’ Ogun Sector Command Public Relations Officer, verified the event to reporters in Abeokuta, stating that eight people were involved.
According to the report, FRSC officers from Mowe Unit, Ibafo Outpost, an ambulance team from Ojota Unit Command, MTD RCCG Police Division, and TRACE Mowe division quickly came at the scene to rescue the victims. Odunsi-Oyewole attributed the crash to speeding.
The PRO claims that before to their arrival, good samaritans sent some injured victims to an unidentified hospital and others to Famobis Hospital in Lotto for medical care.
He stated, “Today, January 1, 2026, at approximately 14:36, there was an automobile accident. The FRS rescue team was notified at approximately 14:40, and they arrived at the scene at approximately 14:50.
The NASFAT intersection is the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
“A Volvo truck and a Mazda commercial bus were involved in the collision.
Six (6) of the eight individuals involved were killed, and two (2) were injured.
“Overspeeding was the cause of the collision.
“We were informed that prior to the team’s arrival, a good Samaritan transported some injured patients to an unidentified hospital. For medical care, a few patients were transported to the Famobis Hospital in Lotto.
“As the corpses were transported to the mogue.”
Corps Commander Akinwumi Fasakin, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun State, has ordered a thorough inquiry into the crash to be conducted.

The FRSC saw that Joshua’s driver, who was speeding, improperly overtook from the right side and collided with the stationary car.
