Boko Haram Camps Weakens As Army Arrest over 5000 insurgents

The Boko Haram insurgents in the North Eastern parts of Nigeria has drastically reduced following the arrest of over 5475 terrorist by the gallant men of the Nigerian Army.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt . Gen Tukur Buratai made this known on yesterday at the event of the Annual Conference and Award of Security Watch Africa Initiatives held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

The Army Chief who was represented at the event by the Chief of Policy and Plans Nigerian Army, Lt. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun revealed that over ten thousands of Boko Haram members have been killed and 32 bombing facilities/ factories have been destroyed by the army.

Buratai commended the efforts of the Nigerian Army over fight against the terrorist groups while acknowledging that, the Army have lost officers and soldiers in process notwithstanding, the troop have remained focused and resilient in winning the battle.

In a statement, he Stated that, statistics from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) indicated that Boko Haram have killed between 30,000 to 100,000 people, displaced over two million persons being accommodated in about 35 internally Displaced persons (IDPs) Camps and generated a refugee population of over 200, 000 persons .

He call on politicians and elite to double their efforts in the fight against terrorism and insurgency which is to be based on all governmental approach including the executive, Legislative judiciary organs of government.

He urged them to take a clue in USA approach in tracking down Osama Bin Laden over a decade ago, by remaining resilient and focus.

He added that , Nigerians should realized that , the country is not facing the fight against global terrorism alone but tactically working in synergy with other countries like Kenya , Algeria who are equally contending with other terrorist groups.

He therefore, call on the need for a multinational approach to arms and ammunition acquirement from any part of the world.

He added that, efforts must be made to synergies with the original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) of the required military hardware, to smoothen relationship and invariably established an all win solution over terrorism in the world.
