Breaking: Tinubu Tells Nigerians: ‘Your Suffering Is A Pain Of Painful Surgery’

Assuring Nigerians that the worst is behind them and that prosperity is on the horizon, President Bola Tinubu on Friday likened the suffering they are going through to the agony of an economic operation.
At the coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Tinubu reportedly made the assurance at Mapo Hall in Ibadan.

While still weak, the country’s economy is recovering from the catastrophe, the president told inhabitants and dignitaries.

I’m honored and happy to share the good news that the economy has turned around with many of you in attendance today. According to Tinubu, there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

According to him, Nigerians’ pain is a necessary sacrifice.

“Your anguish is a pain, a harsh surgical procedure. It has now returned to the time of progress and prosperity that lies ahead of us. I appreciate your persistence. I appreciate your understanding and your perseverance,” he continued.

Along with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the President arrived at the location at 2:28 p.m.

He was accompanied by a number of Federal Executive Council (FEC) members as well as the governors of Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti states.

The traditional Akoko leaf was previously given to Tinubu as part of the coronation ceremonies at the Labosinde Compound in Oja’ba, Ibadan.

Former Oyo State Governor Oba Ladoja took over as governor after the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, died on July 7, 2025, after just one year in office.

Nearly three months after Olakulehin’s passing, a number of dignitaries, political figures, and royal fathers traveled from all around the nation to attend the ceremony on Friday.

Among those present were traditional leaders such as Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto; Oba Akeem Owoade, the Alaafin of Oyo; Oba Ghandi Adeoye, the Soun of Ogbomoso; Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo; and Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom.

State legislators, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and former governors were also in attendance.
