The Labour Party (LP) has urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to take into account what the majority of Nigerians want from the 2027 presidential election.
Political leaders and supporters of Peter Obi, the LP’s 2023 presidential candidate, have reportedly persuaded Jonathan to resign in favor of the former governor of Anambra State, amid rumors that he would return to active politics in 2027.
Tony Akeni, the LP’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, backed the request and asked Jonathan to think about what most Nigerians have decided to do with their lives in an appearance on Arise Television on Friday.
According to Akeni, Goodluck Jonathan and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ought to agree to the reorientation that Peter Obi is advocating.
“We have a third leg in our appeal; we are also urging former President Jonathan to take into account what the vast majority of Nigerians have given up their hearts to pursue,” he stated.
That is a younger individual from the younger generation who has a track record of integrity, character, and consistency, making him popular with most Nigerians.
A younger leader who appeals to the majority of Nigerians has been welcomed by the country’s citizens.
“It is more important for us that Goodluck Jonathan and Atiku Abubakar acknowledge that a change in direction is necessary.”
