Akwa Ibom: Pro-PDP Group Challenges Eno on Claim of Owning All Political Structures

The assertions made by Governor Umo Eno that he controls all Akwa Ibom State political structures have been criticized by the PDP Advocates for Peace and Justice.

Recently, Eno, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“At a time when Akwa Ibom people earnestly expect responsive and impactful leadership, the governor has chosen to dissipate energy on needless political grandstanding rather than addressing the pressing socio-economic challenges facing citizens,” it said in a statement signed by the group’s chairman, Dr. Tom FredFish.

“The Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio, publicly transferred the whole political apparatus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State to Governor Umo Eno.

Therefore, it is necessary to ask what other structure the governor is fighting for and against. His lack of conviction, clarity, and direction in his political path is only highlighted by such careless posturing.

The fact that Governor Eno defected to the APC was a severe blunder; it was dismal, unsustainable, and motivated more by convenience than by principle. His current difficulties reveal the reality of a man surrounded by odd pals who don’t truly trust his leadership or share his goals. The APC is not and cannot be his natural political home, and that much is still true.

“We implore Governor Umo Eno to change his ways and rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while opportunity still exists. Selfless service, vision, and an unrelenting dedication to the welfare of the people are what make up governance, not interminable political wrangling. Instead of being sidetracked by trivial rivalries and internal arguments, Akwa Ibom deserves a leader who is courageous, people-centered, and focused.
