The report from the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) on the incident at Port Harcourt International Airport involving domestic carrier Air Peace is in the midst of controversy. It was publicized.
Because the crew members of the airline allegedly tested positive for drugs and alcohol, the report indicted them.
The NSIB recently published its preliminary findings on an incident that occurred on July 13, 2025, at Port Harcourt International Airport involving Air Peace’s Boeing 737 aircraft.
While the cabin crew tested positive for THC from cannabis, the Air Peace captain and first officer tested positive for ethyl, a byproduct of alcohol, according to the NSIB investigation.
However, due to the contentious conclusions, Air Peace has disagreed with NSIB.
Even though Air Peace stated that it has not yet received the report that implicated its crew members, the airline nevertheless provided its own explanation.
“The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has fully approved the reinstatement of the First Officer (co-pilot), who exhibited professionalism by requesting a go-around from his captain,” the airline said in a statement posted on X on Friday.
Victory Maduneme, a member of the Air Peace cabin crew, also denied that NSIB tested positive for narcotics and threatened to take her to court.
Speaking further about the incident, David Bernard, a co-pilot for Air Peace, stated that the captain failed to adhere to the proper landing procedure.

The NSIB’s Director General, Alex Badeh, has, nevertheless, insisted on the conclusions revealed in the contentious report.
