The Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, has denied rumors that he publicly announced his next political goal before to the general elections in 2027.
Following rumors that he had alluded to a bid for governor or a Senate seat during a live appearance on TVC’s Beyond the Headlines program, Obasa reportedly provided the clarification.
The Speaker, who was on the show, maintained that his comments had been misunderstood.
Whether you want to be a senator, governor, or lawmaker, you have to wait for the party hierarchy to decide where you should go as a politician, he said. Individuals shouldn’t be misinformed or attempt to misunderstand the party’s objectives.
Insisting that his current focus was on the nation’s overall development, he asked supporters and the general public to maintain their composure.

“Our primary focus is on how to advance the nation,” Obasa added. With each passing day, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is making tremendous strides.
Obasa, however, stated that he is cognizant of life after public service and that he is not retiring from politics.
“We are family in the APC, Nigeria is our home, and our party is our strength.” The strength of the APC is increasing daily. Life comes next. “So let’s focus on living that life,” the speaker said.
Obasa emphasized the need for aspiration to be in line with party structures while elucidating the reality of political endeavour.
Political party membership is a prerequisite for discussing politics, and as a member, you must have faith in the party’s leadership.
There comes a time when you are unable to decide for yourself what comes next. You have to respect the party and its management, even if you want to become somebody, he clarified.
Party officials would ultimately decide the course for members before 2027, he said.
“Who goes where will be decided by the party leaders once they have a meeting. Therefore, interaction and collaboration with party leaders are crucial whether one is serving as Speaker, Deputy Governor, Governor, or Senator. The procedure must be in line with you as an individual,” Obasa said.
