An interministerial committee has been established by President Bola Tinubu to organize former President Muhammadu Buhari’s state funeral.
Buhari passed away at a clinic in London, UK, on Sunday.
The original plan was for the former president’s body to reach Nigeria on Monday.
Katsina Governor Dikko Radda, however, stated that Buhari’s remains will reach the nation by noon on Tuesday and that the funeral would be held two hours later.
It is anticipated that Tinubu would receive his late predecessor’s remains.
According to a statement from Segun Imohiosen, director of information and public relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Federation (OSGF), George Akume, the SGF, is in charge of organizing and directing a fitting state funeral for the deceased former president. Akume is also the chairman of the committee.

The general services office (GSO), the permanent secretary’s office, and the chief of defense staff will act as the committee’s secretariat.
Tinubu has also instructed all ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to post condolence registers at the entrance of their offices so that people can pay their respects to Buhari, Imohiosen said.
He went on to say that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Center and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would launch a central condolence registry for the public and diplomatic community.
