PDP Hits Back at ADC, Declares Solid, United Front in Katsina

Sunday’s enlarged caucus meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was called “Let’s make Katsina state work again.”

Thousands of party stakeholders from all 34 Local Government areas in the state’s 361 wards attended the meeting.

In response to the significant number of PDP supporters, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke, the 2023 candidate for governor and Katsina leader, blasted the ADC’s formation, claiming that the PDP is still stronger and more cohesive.

The PDP is extremely strong at the state and national levels, he noted, notwithstanding recent defections to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to Senator Danmarke, “the ADC is not a threat to the PDP because it is a coalition of disgruntled politicians who are using every means to seize power in order to enrich themselves.”

He said that some PDP members in the state defecting to the coalition group was a blessing in disguise, helping to build and unite the party in the state.

“We are pleased to have those who were obstructing the party’s advancement gone. They deceived us, despite our trust and confidence in them,” he stated.

Nonetheless, the state PDP leader urged the populace to maintain their resolve, emphasizing that the PDP is the only political party capable of rescuing the nation from the detrimental governance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a previous statement, state PDP Chairman Alhaji Nura Amadi Kurfi thanked everyone for attending the caucus meeting and said it was a sign of the party’s increasing popularity in the state.

“We can address important issues and reposition our party for success in future elections,” Kurfi continued.
