Known by his stage name Oga Bello, veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Adebayo Salami has sworn he will not leave his children any homes or properties.
In a recent interview, the actor revealed this to the Nigerian Tribune.
Bello claims that he has already left his kids the most priceless legacy possible: education.
The actor, who is proud to have 18 children and is married to two wives, stated that he made the early decision to allocate his resources to providing his kids with a good education rather than building up wealth for them.
In his own words, “I don’t want to leave my children any properties.” I simply require two homes: one in my hometown and one in Lagos. Please share any funds you find in my account. I have a strong enthusiasm for schooling.
According to the actor, who started his career in 1964 with the Young Concert Party, which was founded by the late Baba Mero, he never had the luxury of parental assistance during his own schooling, which has influenced his opinions on parenting.
Adding, “I wanted all my children to be educated, even if it’s just a first degree.”
Oga Bello continued by emphasizing that he never coerced any of his kids into performing, stating that they followed their passions and that he only encouraged them if they performed well academically.

“I didn’t force them into the industry or bring them here. I would always say no when they wanted to follow me to rehearsals, unless they were doing well in school. He said, “That made them work hard.”
Regarding the topic of retirement and aging, Oga Bello also offered insightful observations about what it’s like to be an older actor and the absence of senior readiness in society.
The hardships of old age are inevitable. Old age preparation is a personal matter. Regardless of vocation, it is not taken seriously here in Nigeria. My children were an investment. “They will take care of me when I get old,” he stated.
