CAF WAFU B U-20: Flying Eagles of Nigeria Resume Preparations

For the CAF WAFU B U-20 Boys’ Cup, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria’s Under-20 men’s squad has returned to camping in Abuja, according to head coach Aliyu Zubairu.
Commencing on July 10 and concluding on July 23, 2025, in Accra, Ghana, the CAF WAFU B U-20 Boys’ Cup is designed to promote rising football talent throughout West Africa and encourage regional collaboration. A total of 13 nations from WAFU Zones A and B will compete.
The competition was moved from its original date earlier in the year to July. It was already in Abuja, where the Flying Eagles had begun to camp before the postponement. However, the team had to wait for the announcement of a new date, which interrupted the camping.

According to information obtained, coach Zubairu invited a number of new players in addition to the players who helped the Flying Eagles earn a spot in the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile.
Along with the host nation, Ghana, and the Benin Republic, the Flying Eagles will begin their WAFU B U-20 Boys’ Cup campaign in Group A. Burkina Faso, Togo, Ivory Coast, and Niger make up Group B.

The top two teams in each group will advance to the competition’s semifinals automatically.

Nigeria will play the host nation on Thursday, July 10 to begin the competition, and then they will play Benin Republic on July 13.

Coach Zubairu will be able to get the team ready for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, which is set to begin on September 27 and go through October 19, 2025, by using this tournament.

Nigeria is in Group F of the international competition, which also includes Saudi Arabia, Norway, and Colombia.
