The Nigerian confirmed that an explosion occurred at the Mogadishu cantonment in Abuja.
According to a statement posted on its X feed @HQNigerian Army (previously Twitter), the explosion occurred at a bus stop across from the cantonment.
It claimed that the situation had been brought under control.

Police confirm explosion in the FCT and initiate investigation.
Alaso, The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police headquarters has confirmed an explosion along the heavily trafficked Mararaba-Nyanya bypass.
According to Josephine Adeh, Public Relations Officer for the FCT Police Command, the incident occurred at around 2:50pm on Monday and was quickly reacted to by officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, who were promptly dispatched on the scene.
She stated that the damaged area was promptly sealed off for removal and examination to ensure commuter and resident safety.
According to Adeh, police rescued a male victim at the scene and transported him to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
The statement reads: “On May 26th, 2025, at around 2:50 PM, the FCT Police Command received a distress call about an explosion on the Mararaba-Nyanya bypass.
“After receiving the report, officials from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit were dispatched to the scene. The damaged area was quickly cordoned off for clearance and examination to protect the safety of commuters and residents.
“One male victim was rescued on the spot and immediately sent to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.

“A thorough investigation has begun, including forensic analysis, to determine the exact cause and nature of the explosion.
“The FCT Police Command advises the public to remain calm and carry out their lawful activities without fear, as there is currently no cause for concern.
