Julius Abure, Labour Party National Chairman, has issued a direct challenge to Peter Obi and other previous presidential contenders running on the party’s platform, demanding that they present documentation of any money allegedly handed to him or the party during the 2023 general elections.
Abure made the statement during a Symfoni video broadcast on Tuesday, where he addressed party members in the Federal Capital Territory and responded to ongoing corruption allegations against the party’s leadership.
Naija News believes that he categorically denied accepting any monies for personal use from any of the party’s candidates, including Obi.

“I want to challenge everyone who contested the election, from Peter Obi on down. “Let any of them come out and tell the world what they personally gave to me or the party,” Abure said.
“If they have evidence, let them to present it. If they don’t, let them remain silent indefinitely.”

He denounced what he called “cowardly whispers” of corruption and accused adversaries of using the media to avoid facing the party leadership directly.

Abure also hinted about hosting a world news conference, promising to publicly reveal members of the party’s opposition wing.

He claimed he remained silent out of a feeling of leadership and a desire for reconciliation, but cautioned that further provocation might force him to speak up.

“When people were discussing agents and money for agents, I remained silent. I feel it is my responsibility to manage the good, the terrible, and the ugly. “But now, some are going beyond their limits,” he said.

“I’m waiting for them to make their next move. When I open my mouth, wherever they go, they will smell like rotten eggs that no one wants.”

Abure also criticised Abia State Governor Alex Otti, the Labour Party’s only elected governor, accusing him of failing to contribute financially to the party during the elections.

“Look at the governor, who is moving like a cricket from one spot to another. “We didn’t get a dime from him,” he explained.

“When I saw him at Transcorp, he said, ‘Chairman, what can I do for you?’ I said nothing. “Use your funds for your election.”

He also noted that, other from a few MPs who gave little funds, the party has gotten no significant backing from elected members.

Abure denied allegations of financial misconduct, stating that the Labour Party leadership declined multi-billion naira bribes during the election season.

“We turned down offers due to the integrity of the positions we held. But today, these same people are attempting to kick us out,” he stated.
