For efficient operations, National Assembly Clerk Kamoru Ogunlana has advocated for the country’s parliament to be digitalized.

Ogulana made this statement on Friday, May 9, during a three-day retreat that the National Assembly and the Policy and Legal Advocacy Center (PLAC) had organized.
According to him, the National Assembly needs to use digital technologies for legislative procedures with purpose.

He asserts that the legislature now views digitizing the system as a pressing requirement rather than an optional one.
In addition to addressing new issues, Ogunala stated that the retreat’s itinerary included team-building exercises that efficiently utilized its human capital.

Legal restrictions have slowed the adoption of digital technologies in the legislature, he added, but Nigeria no longer has any justifications now that the Evidence Act of 1945 has been repealed.

“That barrier has been removed with the new Evidence Act 2004 in place, and there should be no justification for delay.” “Failure to integrate digital technology exposes us to future shutdowns.” When implementing the e-Parliament paradigm, we must be deliberate,” he continued.
