Ortom Calls Off 64th Birthday Festivities Amid Benue Insecurity

The former governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, has canceled all celebrations for his 64th birthday in remembrance of the tragedy victims as the state continues to face a rising insecurity that has taken multiple lives.

On his 64th birthday on Wednesday, Ortom thanked the people of Benue and other Nigerians for their prayers and outpouring of goodwill.

His media assistant Terver Akase made this announcement on Wednesday.

“I have made the decision not to have any celebrations or festivities because of the continuous, heightened invasion, attacks, and needless deaths of innocent Benue people by Fulani terrorists throughout different local government areas.”

According to Chief Ortom, he has decided to provide support for the victims and their families, recognizing the profound suffering and loss they have experienced.

He urged the Benue people to keep up their passionate prayers for the victims and offered his sincere condolences to those impacted.

In order to put a stop to the violence and bring about long-term peace and security in Benue and other unstable regions of the nation, Ortom also exhorted Nigerians to turn to God for help.

Additionally, he urged people to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, and Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, asking God to give them the discernment and fortitude to face the country’s security issues.

“Reaffirms my dedication to serving God and humanity in the years to come, and I am thankful to God Almighty for his mercy, good health, and blessings over the past 64 years.”
