Due to their 19-year age difference, veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has claimed that her father disapproved of her marriage to Olu Jacobs.
A recent interview on the Stephen Akintayo Leadership podcast was said to be when the actor revealed this.
According to Silva, she first met Jacobs while she was looking for advice in her early acting career. Her sister gave the movie star her blessing, stating, “Joke, this is the man to take to daddy.”
Despite their tight bond, the movie star revealed that her mother supported their union even though her father first objected to it because of their age difference.
The renowned 63-year-old actor claimed that their bond grew stronger when Jacobs, who was already well-known, urged her to seek formal theatrical training rather than a degree in theater arts from college.
Silva claimed that she fell in love with her husband and, in order to preserve her reputation, Jacobs suggested that she keep her maiden name after marriage.

“My mother said, ‘This is the person they know me with,’ but my dad had problems with his age. That was also the age difference between her parents. Thus, it wasn’t a huge moment.
The person who suggested that I keep my current name was Jacobs. Given his understanding of the significance of branding, he stated that my brand had already begun to take shape before our meeting and that altering it might cause me issues.
Within the brand, no one was unaware that I was Mrs. Jacobs, so we retained the name Joke Silva.
