According to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, a former Senate Chief Whip, the current All Progressives Congress, or APC, has no other presidential candidate in the running for office in 2027.
Kalu, in an interview with the Senate Press Corps on Tuesday, based his optimism on his perception that President Bola Tinubu was performing well in office, emphasizing that several former presidents who did poorly returned for a second term.
He urged Nigerians to have patience and stated that although the economic changes had put strain on the country’s citizens, they were designed to create a strong economy.
The Nigerian people are being urged to exercise patience during the restructuring process, Kalu stated. We fully support the current president and are in full alignment with democratic principles; we are not searching for another presidential candidate outside of our party.
Although reforms are challenging, they are essential. After the economy was shattered, we are currently attempting to rebuild it.
“It’s a difficult process, but patience is necessary.” There are economic problems not only in Nigeria but also in London, Canada, and other places across the world.
According to a senior senator and the former governor of Abia State, the Tinubu-led administration is consulting before making decisions on certain strategic matters that are important to the country.
“The President now consults more widely, both domestically and abroad, before making important economic decisions.”
Speaking about the June 12, 1993, presidential election being canceled, which has made headlines again since the memoir of former military Head of State Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida was published, Kalu stated that he is eager for a second edition because, in his view, the first edition lacked all the facts.
Since Babangida’s book did not fully disclose all of the facts in the first edition, I eagerly await the second edition.
“I know what happened since I was there when the events on June 12 took place. The names of individuals obstructing the election announcement should be called out by Babangida.
According to the military, the aforementioned coup was carried out in Nigeria and was not Igbo. It is undeniable that Moshood Abiola won that election.
Moshood Abiola ought to take the oath of office posthumously, he declared.
“Abiola’s photo ought to be hung with those of Nigeria’s previous presidents since he won. For bestowing upon him a posthumous national distinction, I applaud former President Buhari.
“I would also ask President Tinubu to put his photograph in its proper position and formally acknowledge him. This would assist his family in finding closure.
