Trailer Overturns on Muhammadu Buhari Bridge, Sparking Tragedy in Kano

Several people were killed and injured in a horrific accident that happened Thursday at Kano’s well-known Muhammadu Buhari Bridge.
Residents and commuters were in a state of panic following the collision, which involved a trailer traveling to the southern region of the nation.
Yahya Abubakar Sadiq, a social media user, reported the incident on his page, claiming that the trailer overturned while transporting both persons and cargo.

Currently, a truck (Tarela) carrying both passengers and commodities has overturned at Hotoro NNPC, beneath the bridge that connects Mariri and Unguwa Uku. There were at least twenty persons engaged, some of whom died and others who were seriously injured,” he stated.
Speaking to Daily Trust, another eyewitness, Shu’aibu Hamisu, recounted the terrifying event, claiming that the trailer lost control while traveling under the underpass tunnel.

The trailer entered the underpass by slipping. While several people died instantly, others were saved,” he stated.

According to reports, the same location has seen several similar instances in the last 12 months.

Trailers carrying passengers, food, and animals from the north to the south of the country are frequently engaged in these collisions, according to local business owners in the area.

“Usually, these accidents happen when drivers underestimate the vulnerability of their vehicles under the bridge and try to speed through the underpass,” a business owner told Daily Trrust.
