The murder of a motorbike ticketing officer sparked a violent altercation between Oodua People Congress (OPC) men and motorcycle riders Thursday in the state capital of Ado-Ekiti.
Numerous people were hurt during the altercation as a result of the OPC members and the motorcycle riders using deadly weapons like knives and cutlasses.
According to an eyewitness who asked to remain anonymous, the conflict began when the motorcycle riders accused the OPC member of being accountable for the murder of a motorbike ticketing officer who was stationed in the Ado Ekiti neighborhood of Atikankan.
Men from the Ekiti State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad had to act quickly to bring order back to the area.
The command has detained six people in relation to the violent altercation, according to Ekiti police spokesperson CSP Abutu Sunday.
