In a letter to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Salihu Moh Lukman, a former national vice chairman (North West) of the APC, urged him to rally previous Nigerian leaders in order to form a strong political alliance.

Concerns regarding the refusal of some opposition leaders, including three former governors, to unite under a common political platform because of their political aspirations were raised by Lukman in his letter.

This, according to Lukman, a former Director General of the APC’s Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), has weakened earlier efforts to develop a strong alternative to the APC.

The letter, which was addressed to Obasanjo but also mentioned other former Nigerian leaders like Muhammadu Buhari, Goodluck Jonathan, Ibrahim Babangida, General Yakubu Gowon, and General Abdulsalami Abubakar, highlighted the role that previous leaders have played in forming the country’s current situation.

Lukman said, “Without playing games of blame, whether the leaders of this country today are created by God or Satan, you all together, individually and collectively, are the parents of today’s Satanic leaders of Nigeria.”

He denounced the historical practice of influencing political succession, seeing it as a persistent problem that exacerbates Nigeria’s political and socioeconomic problems.

Lukman claims that the custom of choosing successors has exacerbated the problems facing the country and led to the rise of “Satanic leaders.”

Lukman called for a political reorganization that would create a party that could develop “Godly” leadership.

He bemoaned the unwillingness of certain opposition leaders to work together, claiming that they put their own aspirations ahead of the group’s objective of advancing the country.

Lukman bemoaned the fact that certain opposition figures are already opposing attempts to create a unified political platform, primarily due to their side goals of running for office.

“If we can re-engineer our politics to produce at least one political party with the potential to produce leaders with Godly genotype, then Nigeria can produce leaders with Godly genotype and not Satanic genotype,” the letter said in part.

Due in large part to their side goals of running for office, several opposition figures are already opposing attempts to create a unified political platform. Some are already engaging in the traditional hegemonic games of assembly loyalists or cheerleaders as a result of these subsidiary goals.

Three of them have served as state governors in the past. Additionally, there is a group connected to one of the legacy parties that came together to establish the APC. This outfit is already creating a fictitious leadership lineup for a party that the opposition leaders will form.

“The so-called candidates for governorship have already been selected in numerous states. It seems sense since they already have a presidential contender with such a mindset.
