Jarrett Tenebe, the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been threatened with legal action for alleged defamation by Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor in the 2024 Edo election.
Tenebe was accused by the PDP gubernatorial candidate in a letter from the law firm Banwo & Ighodalo of making damaging and misleading claims against him in a widely shared video.
In response to Governor Monday Okpebholo’s blunder during the state assembly’s presentation of the 2025 budget, Tenebe allegedly accused Ighodalo of embezzling billions of dollars.
During his Tuesday appearance before the Edo State House of Assembly, Governor Okpebholo had difficulty reading the state budget estimate’s total figures.

After attempting to enunciate the figure multiple times, the governor remarked it was confounding him, a remark that caused chuckles.
Following that, the governor’s blunder went viral on social media, with a wide range of individuals sharing their thoughts.
Tenebe claimed in the video he made public on the incident that Obaseki and Ighodalo would not have committed such a crime as they had already embezzled billions.
In reaction to the widely shared video, Ighodalo gave Tenebe seven days to provide a complete retraction, a public apology, and guarantees that no more disparaging remarks would be made.
