An Ogun State-based doctor reportedly killed one person when his vehicle rammed into the Mowe Health Centre in the Mowe area of the state on Tuesday.

A police source privy to the incident but not authorised to speak with the media told According to Metro on Thursday that the incident occurred when the doctor was driving into the hospital premises.

The source noted that the doctor had lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the vehicle of the hospital killing one and injuring two persons.

The source said, “An accident occurred at the Mowe hospital. A doctor has always been parking in the Mowe Health Centre but on this particular day, he lost control and rammed into the hospital’s fence. One person died while two others were injured.”

Confirming the incident to our correspondent in a telephone conversation on Thursday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that the deceased body was deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital.

She added that an investigation was ongoing on the matter.

“The incident involved a Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number APP 422 GJ, driven by a doctor.

“The driver, who had been parking at the health centre premises despite not being a staff member, was attempting to enter the health centre when he lost control of his vehicle, hitting the hospital wall and causing injuries to two persons. Unfortunately, a three-year-old named Ejikey Israel died at the scene.

“Police officers visited the accident site, the vehicle was taken to the station for safety, the deceased’s body was sent to the OOUTH for autopsy, and the injured individuals were taken for treatment. An investigation into the incident is ongoing,” Odutola concluded.

According to Metro reported on August 18 that a driver of an unregistered Honda Accord vehicle killed one person after ramming into a motorcycle along the Oru-Ijebu Igbo road in the Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The accident, according to a statement by the spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, occurred at about 8 pm.

Akinbiyi noted that three persons were involved in the accident which left two persons injured and one person dead.

The TRACE spokesperson stated that the accident was caused by the reckless driving by the driver of the Honda Accord car.
