Lagos destroys shrine constructed near road

The Lagos State government, in a move to maintain environmental order and sanitation, has taken action against the construction of an unauthorised shrine near a main road in the Iyana Ipaja area.

According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency, and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps were involved in the removal of the shrine.

“After several stop-work notices were served and physical assaults occurred against personnel of the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency @LASPARKLagos, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps @LAGESCOfficial earlier today removed the shrine constructed close to a main road at Moshalasi Bus Stop, Ile Epo in Iyana Ipaja,”

Wahab stated in a post via X on Thursday.

The Lagos State government issued a stern warning to the public, as Wahab stated, “The Lagos State government is again warning everyone to desist from constituting any form of environmental nuisance on state parks and gardens, as this will be met with prosecution.”
