The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations Umar Belel has reportedly been gunned down by protesting members of the Iranian backed Islamic Movement of Nigeria IMN.

TeleVision Nigerian gathered that DCP Umar was killed by the group when he tried to stop them from destroying public properties around the Federal Secretariat in Abuja.

Consequently, the police has beefed up security in and around the federal capital to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
