The Commissioner of Police for Imo State, Aboki Danjuma, has pledged that his command will do everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the killings of members of Eze Umucheke’s cabinet.
This assurance was given to the public, particularly residents of the Umucheke community in Onuimo Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, it was noted, “The Command’s tactical units, in synergy with other security agencies and local vigilantes, are currently combing the surrounding forests in Onuimo communities for possible apprehension of the fleeing suspects.”
Danjuma made this promise during a condolence visit to the Umucheke Community early on Sunday. He was accompanied by the Sole Administrator of Onuimo LGA, Dr. Emeka Obi; Major AI Maikarifi, representing the Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze; Commandant NSCDC, Comdt. Mathew Ovye; and other security personnel for an on-the-spot assessment of the crime.

The Commissioner condemned the killings of the community chiefs as barbaric, inhumane, and senseless. He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and the Umucheke community, assuring them that the deaths would not be in vain.
Danjuma also promised that a tactical unit would be permanently stationed in the community to prevent further attacks until peace is restored.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack was carried out by six gunmen on three motorcycles, believed to be members of the proscribed IPOB/ESN group.
According to the Police spokesperson, the Umucheke residents had seen the attackers but did not report them until after the killings.
The Commissioner emphasized the need for community involvement in fighting crime and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
