The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police command has debunked reports making the rounds that photojournalist, Jide Oyekunle was arrested during the protest.
There are reports that Jide was picked up by operatives of the command while covering the ongoing protest in the nation’s capital.
However, SP Josephine Adeh, Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command told TVN that the report was false.
According to her “Jide Oyekunle was rather taken away from the perceived unsafe environment for his own safety after being advised to leave where he was standing in a safer location and he declined, as some of the protesters had suddenly become violent.
“While the protest is ongoing, it remains the duty of the police to protect lives and property”.
