Nigeria’s Oscar Committee calls for entries for 2025 Awards

The Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has called on established Nollywood filmmakers to immediately submit entries to the 97th Annual Academy Awards (Oscars).
The committee led by actress Stephanie Linus has specifically asked Nigerian filmmakers to submit their feature films for consideration in the International Feature Film (IFF) category.
The NOSC, certified by AMPAS and responsible for selecting Nigeria’s official entry for the IFF Award, said on Tuesday that the submission portal will be open from August 1, 2024 to August 30, 2024 at www.thenosc.org

The IFF prize is a special category for feature-length films made outside of the United States that have at least half of their dialogue in a language other than English.
The academy requires that submitted films meet certain standards, such as having correct, legible English subtitles, adhering to prescribed filming formats, and proof of theatrical release.
The NOSC also announced a reformation with the addition of new members, including Ali Nuhu, managing director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), Blessing Effiom Egbe, a producer and director, Ijeoma Grace Agu, an actress, Kene Okwuosa, CEO of Nile Entertainment, and Victor Akande, a journalist, author, and film critic.
