Nigeria’s telecom provider, 9mobile, has announced its Future-CEO initiative in honor of this year’s International Day of Education, which aims to pique the interest of young secondary school students in business and leadership.
The initiative is in line with 9mobile’s CSR commitment to education and firm belief in supporting and providing self-discovery and expressive platforms for youths to thrive, according to the company.
Chineze Amanfo, 9mobile’s PR Lead, spoke about the initiative and stressed the importance of youths having unrestricted access to quality education.
“At 9mobile, we recognize the importance of education in shaping a child’s life,” she said. This informed our unwavering commitment to the educational system’s growth and development. 9mobile’s Future-CEO Initiative is yet another educational initiative aimed at inspiring students to strive for greatness in whatever field they choose.
“To carry out the initiative, 9mobile will work with the Lagos Education District II, which includes schools in the Ikorodu, Kosofe, and Shomolu LGAs. The selection process will begin with a speech competition on the topic of “What would you do if you had the opportunity to be the CEO of a major corporation for a day?”

“This competition will be held in schools in Lagos State’s Education District II in collaboration with the Literary and Debating Society.
“The contest will last four weeks, with video entries submitted electronically, and one winner will be chosen after a rigorous judging process.” In addition to receiving other exciting prizes, the winner will be invited to visit 9mobile’s headquarters in Lagos and will be hosted by the CEO.”
Every year on January 24, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) commemorates the International Day of Education. “Changing Course, Transforming Education” is the theme for 2022. The purpose of the day is to demonstrate that education is critical to achieving all 17 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
